Variable Question, eye detection
« on: July 21, 2024, 05:40:33 AM »
Variable Question.
Is there a variable that indicates which eye detection setting is used.
I would like to know whether my AF (in my case Canon R3) with eye detection was set to people or animals.

Not sure which EXIF field Canon uses for that setting, but if its outside of the semi‑proprietary makernotes, you could use Exiftool scripting to read the value and write it into some unused IPTC/XMP field, right from within PM (there is a recent CameraBits Blog article how to integrate Exiftool scripts in as PM Droplets).

That way you could still easily see it in PM and sort or evaluate on it.

Might be a good idea to set your upload and save as IPTC templates to always clear that field on export or upload, to not confuse clients (that's how I do it when I need to store some temporary info in some unused IPTC field).
