Not able to remove duplicate photos from Catalog

I did a catalog sync and somehow ended up with over 14k of duplicate photos in my catalog. Now these are not physical duplicate files, they appear to be duplicated in the catalog only. I went under the collections and selected all the "Sync - new" photos and tried to "Remove from Catalog" and it does nothing. If I select one image to remove its gone no issues but when selecting them all it does nothing.

I really am not going to sit here and delete one image 14,000 times so what can I do here to clean up the catalog. I would build a new one but then I would loose all the Collections I have built. that would suck!!

Ideas ? I am out of them myself.
