After I almost edit raw files with Capture One or DxO, I have returned to Nikon's NX Studio more often.
Unfortunately, the workflow with NX is not so smooth. Maybe someone has some good suggestions for me.
- The only way NX reads the labels and rating is to check Allow RAW Files to be modified in the PM IPTC/XMP prefs. The NX adjustment and labels safe prefs must be set to the original raw file. The ratings read NX right, tthe labels have a strange connection with the spelling.
So fine so good. The big problem with this setting is:
All edits made with NX are written to the raw file. If I change something in the XMP data in PM (not all), this is also written to the raw file and all NX edits are deleted in this process.
The only way to keep the edits in NX is to choose NX sidecar storage, but then no more XMP data, labels or ratings are synchronized.
What is the best way to solve this dilemma? Maybe someone has found a good workaround.
