IPTC Metadata in Windows 11
« on: October 03, 2024, 11:59:29 AM »
I entered my IPTC Metadata in Photo Mechanic.
They show as supposed to during Slideshows in Photo Mechanic, when I set Rendered Text to {caption}.
For jpg-files from my Nikon cameras, I can make them show in the Windows 11 File Manager, when I select "Title" in the Choose Details dialog box for showing more data fields.

However, how can I make that happen for jpg-files from my Olympus or OM System camera? "Title" and "Description" data fields are both blank in that case.

Any solution to that issue?

Michael,

Sounds like Windows File Manager is using the EXIF Description and not the IPTC/XMP Description.  I think your Nikon camera is putting that text in the EXIF data for you but your Olympus cameras do not.  PM does not directly edit those EXIF fields.  You could test this theory by making the Metadata Info caption very different from its previous description on the Nikon files and checking the the Windows File Manager again.
