Oh man, this “promotion” is so lame. A lot of users complain about high perpetual and subscription prices and all you could do is to drop a minuscule 20% from the variant where the user is NOT owning the software.
Let me give you an example: in racing games world the game iRacing is considered the best but the most expensive. You buy the game, then when you grow you’ll need to pay for tracks and new cars if you want to compete in higher competitions. Their bf promotion for existing users is 25% off. If you are a new user the value goes to 50%. That’s what i call promotion and understanding that, sometimes, the users need a little bit of monetary value besides the actual program.
You still have a base of customers that use old versions and you don’t give them the opportunity to upgrade to the latest version because you care only for new people. And for the ‘version’ of the program that is milking the more money for you.
