Dear fellow Photo Mechanic users,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to the community regarding a potential feature that could significantly enhance our workflow when organizing large photo collections.

Currently, I have thousands of images meticulously organized within several Collections in Photo Mechanic. I've attached a screenshot to illustrate my folder structure.
What I'm aiming to achieve is the implementation of a script or feature that can automatically extract the hierarchical structure of locations from my Collections and add it to the Keywords field (or any other suitable field) of the images.

For instance, if I were to select all 1,331 pictures within the "Ertvelde" folder and run this hypothetical script, I would ideally see the following in the Keywords box:

Europe|Belgium|Oost-Vlaanderen|Evergem|Ertvelde

The ability to automate this process would save me countless hours of manual work, especially considering the volume of images I'm dealing with.

I'm curious to know if such a solution already exists within Photo Mechanic or if anyone has devised a workaround to achieve this. If not, I'm considering submitting this as a feature request for future versions of PM.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, insights, or alternative approaches you might have regarding this matter. Your input could be invaluable in streamlining our collective workflows.
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.
Best regards,

Luke

Luke,

The collection path is not stored in the image.  Images can be in multiple collections.

We could add a contextual menu command that copies the path to the clipboard and the user could paste it wherever they wanted (or use the {clipboardtext} variable).  This would likely be fairly easy to implement.

Please make a feature request.
