Can't run PM All-In-One after upgrade to 7907?
« on: December 22, 2024, 06:08:23 PM »
I am running Photo Mechanic R7907, build 13217 on Windows 11x64.
Was running a previous version earlier this week, received a "new version available" message and downloaded/installed PhotoMechanicR7907_424a6328.msi

Now, when I launch Photo Mechanic All In One, at first a window showing a half-filled "Performing Activation" progress bar appears for a while, then I'm prompted to Activate with my License Key. After clicking Activate, entering my key (copy-paste from the site with no extra spaces, my license does not expire until 18/07/2025), I get the same  half-filled "Performing Activation" progress bar for a little bit and then back to the Photo Mechanic Activation window again.  :-\

It looked like maybe the process wasn't reaching its intended server?... so I added firewall rules to allow both Photo Mechanic.exe and PMLicenseSpringHelper.exe to have access to any network, but still same result. (Also tried a full uninstall/reboot/re-install... still no joy)

Any suggestions?
(I've been using PM for quite a while (since before 2010 I think), and this is the first time I've encountered this so at a bit of a loss as to how to get this working again.)
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Have fun.

The tech team may be slow to reply due to the holidays.  In the meantime, are you able to install and activate the previous build?   You can find that here: https://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=16371.0

Great idea! Thanks!.... erg... tried that and getting same result.
Strange. I'm not sure what version I was using before.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. Totally understand folks will be enjoying time with family over the next couple weeks.

Fingers crossed.
Thanks again!

Just to close the loop on this, activation worked fine today, so all good here. Must have been a momentary glitch.
Happy Holidays!

Erg sorry.... happening again.
I'm wondering if it's something to do with my internet service?
My internet and other server-based subscription software tools all seem to be working, but I'm running into the "Activate" issue with PhotoMechanic again.

Is there a way I can trouble shoot this with a ping or other commands to test connection to an authentication server?
Is there a way I can install the license to a local file so this doesn't routinely need Activation?

My License portal still shows just one activation, it's active.
Also, the portal shows a "last checked" date of 12/26/2024 even though I tried using it yesterday and today.
Seems like the software isn't "reaching" whatever server it's supposed to be connecting to.

Open to any suggestions/ideas on how to get this permanently working again.
Thanks in advance for any input.
