Thanks... yes, it can be done in "Contact Sheets" It is odd though that it isn't consistent between all three (Menus, Contact Sheet, Preview).
There is quite a bit of discussion on this from our lead developer in this thread:
https://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=16812.0Some of it is now out of date, as there were some issues identified in the initial build that introduced customizable keyboard shortcuts that have since been fixed, but to address these functions specifically: the menus have always performed a separate function than the single-key shortcuts. The single key shortcuts are for updating a single image, the options in the menus (and their associated shortcuts) are for updating a selection of multiple images. This is to prevent a single keystroke from potentially modifying hundreds of selected files on the Contact Sheet.
It sounds like you were maybe previously frequently switching between using single key shortcuts for color classes and star ratings? We will consider adding snapshots to the keyboard shortcut customization panel so that you can quickly switch between presets, however, since the keyboard shortcuts are completely customizable now, might I suggest simply setting your shortcuts up in such a way that you can always access color classes and star ratings with a single keypress? For example, if you use a US keyboard you could use 1-5 and tilde for star ratings and then use 6-0 for color labels, or you could leave the star ratings as number keys and then set your shortcuts for color labels as Q,W,E,R,T,Y,U,I,O
