Info Text panel not evaluating variables
« on: Yesterday at 03:17:33 AM »
There seem to be some instances where the Info Text panel won't evaluate any variables.  I'll list the steps to reproduce below, but I've not been able to link it to any specific set of circumstances other than it seemed to be length-related. But when I asked about length limits in another post, I was told that there is probably not a specific length limit. See https://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=17075.msg83002#msg83002.

you can reproduce this with an Info Text snapshot file like the one attached.

Photo Mechanic Plus version 2025.10, build 8858 macOS Sequoia 15.7.2 (24G325)

I reviewed the code and there is indeed a maximum. It was added in the October 2025 builds in order to prevent a crash that was occurring in the program. I tried increasing the maximum to a value that was higher than what your Info text snapshot would return and it does allow your snapshot to work, but I'll likely need Kirk to review that change when he's back from vacation to see what the reasoning is for that maximum or if there are any implications to raising it.

Makes sense. I made another snapshot with all the variables and their definitions — taken directly from the user guide pages. Of course it’s longer than this one with just the variables in it, but it might be a nice reference for new users. In fact, including one or more example variable snapshots with the build might help new users. I can’t remember if any were included by default or not.

Thanks!
