While it was mentioned some years ago, I never got traction, therefore I re-post this request in a hopefully more extended way.

I have organised my workflows in such a way that I save the code replacement text file as well as associated pdf files (containing player names) specific to a event in the same directory as the raw files ingested from my camera for that event.
In the contact sheet of that folder, I can see icons for the text and pdf files. But when I click on them, I get an extended version of the icon. If would be great if the file could be opened with an external viewer as follows:

Light option
Files with the extension .txt (text editor), .csv (Excel), and .pdf are opened with the external application associated to that file type by the underlying OS (MacOS, Windows).

Advanced option
There is a configuration option (in Preferences -> Launching) that allows associating an external application with the file extension .txt, .csv, and .pdf , the same way as it is done for photos and videos.

VIP option
There is a configuration option (in Preferences -> Launching) that allows associating an external application with a given extension (multiple extension / application pairs are possible and the user defines the extension to be used (any extension that is not yet supported), unless they already belong to an image or video as supported by PhotoMechanics)
