I think I asked this on a private e-mal exchange some time ago, but thought I would post it here so I can keep track of the answer over time.

I would like the ability to drag-and-drop a text file of image names onto a contact sheet and have the images (listed in the text file) selected for me on the contact sheet.  Alternately, if the drag-and-drop part doesn't work, at least a way to open a text file that results in "n" number of images selected on the currently selected contact sheet.

I have a on-line ordering system that attaches a text file of the images the customer is order.  It is a simple file listing the filename.ext followed by a carriage return/line-feed for every entry.  Breeze Browser currently has the ability take in these text files and selecte the images.

As far as time savings for me during order fulfilment, this would be a big boost since many times I have thousands of images in the folder and the customer is ordering a dozen images scattered through the folder.  Find is a bit slow and is a one-at-a-time function.  Being able to select all the images at once with the txt file would be a big imrovement.

The text file is currently layed out as:

filename1.ext
filename2.ext
filename3.ext
filename4.ext

Is this something that could be added in a future 4.5.x release?

Thanks!

-Mike

Yes, it is something I could add, however I don't think I would make it a drag and drop feature.  Likely just a couple of menu items:

Export selects
Import selects

Or it could even be done with an Exporter template that could both import or export selects, tags, color classes, etc.

I think I can live with a menu selection.  The more I think it through, a multi-select of text files would be icing on the cake.  That way I could drop all the text files from the ordering system into a folder and then select all the text files from the day's orders, hit the button and have all the photos ordered from that event selected.  I then drag them from my master folder library and drop a copy into a working folder where I do my PSCS magic foo-foo and ship them to the lab for printing.

The idea of a configurable importer similar to the exporter would make for broader use by other systems that may have slightly different order file layouts.  Good idea.

Thanks for considering this enhancement.  I look forward to having included some day in the future.

Regards,

-Mike
