Variable for Next Year

Is there a variable code for "next year"?  For sports seasons that go across two calendar years:  Ice Hockey season 2026-27

There is not, but a reasonable request and would be easy to add.

It would be very helpful to me.

Either a code for nextyear, with 2 or 4 digits

Or a code that literally gives a season thisyear4-nextyear2

I know what you mean, but it doesn’t make sense.
Let’s take a football season as an example. In February 2026, it’s still the 2025/26 season.
The 2026/27 season (thisyear4-nextyear2) will not begin until the summer of 2026.

How would you handle when a new season starts? Depending on the sport, this may be at different dates! Some new seasons start in spring (april/may), summer (july/august), some start in fall (september/october) and some start even in winter, like alpine ski (november/december). You would have to add some sort of qualifier that states the month in which a season starts, for example {season:4:year4-year2} to get the season starting in april and a specification how a season should be typeset (resulting in 2026-27 when called in may and 2025-26 when called in march).
