Problem with ä ö ü ß

in the new version the ä ü ö ß dont work in the 4.4.3.3. is it very good, i try everising and then i go back at 4.4.3.3.

Couple of questions:

Can't you type the characters at all?
Or do they get changed to different characters when you view them again after you have saved a file with these characters?

Are you saving XMP information, or just IPTC?

In the latter case (only IPTC), it is important to have that character encoding right.  On windows use Windows Latin+Euro, for the Mac, the Mac encoding is fine.

You need to save your Code Replacement text file in the UTF-8 format when you use PM 4.5.x.  There are a number of free text editors that run on Windows and can save/load UTF-8.  My favorite is a Notepad replacement called Notepad2:

As Austrian, I also need the (accented) german characters like ä, ö, ü and ß.

In PM 5.4.2 I have set IPTC encoding to Microsoft Latin1+Euro and Unicode NOT checked.
Line endings is set to CR.
This works fine for IPTC (I dont like sidecar files) and Capture NX will show the IPTC entered in PM correctly.
