Is there a way to find files from a contact sheet with a missing value for a chosen field, such as all files with no keywords? Thank you.

Yes.  Use the Find dialog.  Leave the Find text blank.  Search only the Keywords field.  Perform the Find.  Photos with blank keywords will be selected.

Another way would be to sort (edit a custom sort to do this) the contact sheet on the field you want to find the blanks for. The blanks will then be the first ones on the contact sheet. I (regularly) use this to check whether or not I filled in all the fields I wanted (e.g., the caption).

Thanks, both methods work. Any suggestion which is the speediest and most efficient?

Whatever works best for you 

Once you've setup the custom sort that one is probably the easiest to execute as no additonal typing is necessary. Wheter or not it is faster to execute, I don't know. You'll have to try that for yourself.
