Behavior of crop box
« on: April 16, 2009, 07:46:06 PM »
First, I drag a crop box out to a certain size, then I click inside the box to move it.  While moving the box, if it butts up against the edge of the photo, it starts to shrink.  Please change the behavior so that move only moves the box.  The box should only resize when grabbing one of the corners.

Thanks,
Danny

It should be fixed in the next beta update.

Kirk,
Thanks.  Does that mean in beta 5, or the one after that?

Actually, I thought this behavior was fixed in beta 5, but not completely.  Drag out a crop selection and then click inside it to move it. If you drag it straight towards the right edge of the image it starts to shrink when you come up against the edge and keep going.  Top, bottom and left work the way I would expect which is that the crop selection stops moving and retains the selected size when you try to push it against the edge.

Thanks,
Danny

What file type are you cropping?  (list the filename's extension)
What OS are you running?

I tried it on my development version on Mac OS X with a JPEG and couldn't reproduce the problem you described.

It's a bug that we're working on a solution for.  The embedded JPEG preview does not have the exact same aspect ratio of the RAW data and that causes a scaling error.  The fix won't be in beta 7, but will likely be in the beta 8 or the final release.
