camera information not being copied from RAW to PSD file
« on: August 17, 2009, 03:03:00 AM »
Hi

I metadata all files in RAW, then convert and save as PSD files.

I have noticed that metadata goes across to the PSD file, however shooting data (speed, ISO, aperture, etc) does not - these fields are blank.  Data is kept as sidecar files and no files have been moved from original folders.

This said, when I convert from the PSD to a JPEG the shooting data is once again present

Can you explain a work around so that all metadata and shooting data is shown in the PSD file?

Thanks Iain    (MAC PRO, PM 4.6.1.)

What tools are you using to perform these conversions?

The RAW file is opened in CS4 ACR.

The file is then saved as as PSD file in CS4 with or without layers.  At this stage keywords, copyright, etc can be seen, however, all shooting data in th info slide out is not visible - the data is not there - just empty variables.

Then, when I open the PSD file and re-save it as a JPEG in CS4 all the missing data is viewable again (in the JPEG)....Iain

It sounds like Photoshop is not making available the original EXIF data in a format that Photo Mechanic understands but is storing it in such a manner that it can reconstitute it when the PSD is saved as a JPEG.

WOW - super fast reply (superman speed)   ;D

Previous to this problem I had the older version of PM (version before this one).

Everything worked OK in this manner with this version.

The problem only started with the download of the latest version.

Is there a work around that you know of?

Thanks....Iain

No, but we're looking into this issue right now.

We've got a fix now.  Would you like to test?
