4.6.3 changes colour back to windows 7 basic
« on: March 27, 2010, 09:37:31 AM »
I have just upgraded to 4.6.3 and the screen changes per;

he following error message, which I have not had in any previous versions
for a PC with Windows 7

The color scheme has been changed to Windows 7 Basic
a running program isn't compatible with certain visual elements of Windows

the color scheme has been changed
the following program has performed an action that requires windows to temporarily change to the color scheme to windows 7 basic
program Photo Mechanic 4.6.3
process identifier PID 6088
windows will automatically change the color scheme back to windows aero when this program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running

I have never heard of that one before.  I run Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my system and get no such changes.  Are you running PM in some sort of compatibility mode?

no just running normally and no problems with PM previous version or any other program, also when I start the PM program I get the warning message "do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?"

i read on a form that has something to do with codec, quick time
so I deleted quick time and I do not get the message with it returning to windows basic anymore, but have not reloaded quick time yet and wont until and if I need it.
however why does it have a problem with "unknown publisher etc"?

That 'Unknown Publisher' message comes from Windows when it sees that something isn't 'digitally signed' (which would detail who the publisher is and that they're trusted.)  I suppose it is QuickTime that is causing the message and that it isn't digitally signed.  Unless you need to work with movie file formats, you can remove QuickTime from your system and have no ill-effects in Photo Mechanic.
