Selected image issues?

Photo Mechanic 4.6.6  Windows XP Pro

When I search a catalog for a keyword and view the selected images I get the results I want (as an example let's say 50 images).

At this point if I apply a keyword to a selection of those images (2 images) only the newly selected images remain and the other 48 are lost. I have to go through the routine of searching the entire catalog again to get my original selection of 50.

This behavior also happens if I open a selected image in another application and then save it as a TIFF file. The single opened image remains and the others vanish.

Is this normal? Also happens with 4.6.5

I'm not sure I follow.  Photo Mechanic does not have a cataloging feature at this time.  Are you using the Find panel on a already opened Contact Sheet?

Please list the exact steps to follow, including opening any dialogs or windows.

I should have used folder instead of catalog.

Here are the steps, I have added the number of images for an example:

Open folder of 244 images
Open find window - search all photos for a keyword
Close find window
F2 to show selected images -41 images remain
Open structured keyword panel
Highlight 11 images to apply keywords to
Apply keyword collection to images
At this point the 11 newly keyworded images remain, the other 30 have vanished.

To get back to my 41 original selected images I have to show all 244 images and start over.

If I want to edit one of the 41 selected images as soon as I save the new file only the original unedited image is still visible and 40 have disappeared.

I hope this explains it.

Yes.  Unfortunately it is working the way it is supposed to work.  You changed the selection and when the application of the keywords completed, the Contact Sheet was refreshed thus causing the 'View selected' filter to be re-evaluated thus only the last selected images remain.

I don't have a workaround for you and I understand what you're trying to do and how the current behavior would be annoying.
