Hiya,

Is there a way to change the keyboard shortcut (on mac) for the ratings?

i.e. in Aperture you just use the "=" key to plus 1 star to the rating, or the "-" key to subtract a rating star. So when I have my hand on the keyboard, the forward/back arrows and the rating plus/minus are all very close together.

Is there a way to do that on PM? They keyboard shortcuts seem a bit convoluted to me at the moment.

No, there isn't any way to customize them.

It seems a lot more logical to me to hit the plus & minus keys to move a rating up/down

Plans, yes, but probably not in the near future.  Adding a customizable shortcut key editor is on our list of things to implement, but there are higher priority items in the list that will have to be addressed first.

Hi,

I would just like you to revise the priority for that...  Just try a french canadian keyboard layout and tell me how you do "save and go to next" in the "IPTC Info for <picture name>" which is supposed to be "COMMAND + [".

To make a "[" I need to press "ALT + ^" at the same time.  So normally I would need to type 3 key "COMMAND + ALT + ^" but it doesn't work.  I have to go with the mouse or switch to an english keyboard layout.  But then, if I switch, I can't type accent characters in IPTC fields...

Probably not a permanent solution for you, but instead of choosing the English layout, try US Extended; with that keyboard layout you can get (almost?) all accents. I'm not sure if that matches a Canadian French keyboard layout though (isn't that AZERTY instead of QWERTY?)

Good, this way the US Extended layout may actually be a permanent solution to you (it is what I use all the time). If you're unsure about how to get some of the accents and special characters, be sure to check the keyboard viewer. I find it's a massive help :-)

Thanks.  It will take some time to get used to it but I think it will become my permanent layout for this laptop...  Keyboard viewer is my new friend.

I use the US International - PC so that I can type Brazilian accents. Do you think it would be better for me to switch to US Extended?

Hi Luiz,

Personally I prefer the US Extended version as it offers many more accents than the PC version, but if you're used to the PC version, switching may be awkward. It's easy to see the differences though; just open the keyboard viewer, press and hold the alt or alt+shift keys and then switch the keyboard layout (probably works best if you have enabled the input menu on the menu bar). The change in behaviour of the various keys is visible in an instant.
