editing in raw+jpeg mode
« on: May 12, 2011, 08:05:04 AM »
Just a quick question.  Searched but couldn't find the specific answer.  If I combine raw+jpeg in my contact sheet and want to edit some of the files in Photoshop as jpegs and some in camera raw, is there a keyboard shortcut to do so?  I don't want to open preferences each time.  In other words, when I shoot in nef + jpeg, 90% of the jpegs are fine, but every so often I need to edit the raw file.  Mac OS 10.6.8, PM 4.6.6.  Thanks,  Jon

Hi John!

Command-J toggles the combined view... So you can set the prefs for jpg and RAW once, toggle the combined view and press E on the file to be edited (raw or jpg).

After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

Sven,  Thanks so much.  I knew it had to be something simple.  Jon

Or even better, use the 'Shortcut key' (Option on Mac, Shift on Windows) and it will toggle the sense of the edit RAW/JPEG preference.  Then you don't have to switch between views.

Kirk,  do you mean option + j, or just option?  By the way, I am just uploading to photoshelter for the first time wi 4.6 and I am amazed how much faster it is.  And it is sending 2 images at a time. Wow.

Just hold down the Option key while you press the edit key combo.  Or while you use the edit menu items on the contextual menu or the Image menu.  If you have it set to edit the JPEG of a RAW+JPEG pair then the RAW will be edited instead of the JPEG when you hold down the Option key.

Windows users should use the Shift key instead.
