IPTC data not transferring to Jpegs from Raw
« on: May 11, 2012, 04:28:40 AM »
Hi..
Yall sure have a lot of information here and have tried to find my answer but seems there are many ways to use PM..  I am a novice relative to some of you using this product.  My question is... I apply some basic IPTC data to the raw files using variables, open the files in Photoshop and then save as jpegs.  Then  I look at the IPTC info and there is nothing there.

What do I need to do to get the IPTC information to appear in the jpegs after I save them in Photoshop?? I notice a lot of people using LR but I grew up on PS and never made the transition as PS works for what I do.   Do I need to start using LR?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you click on the 'i' button (it will appear when you put your mouse over a thumbnail in the contact sheet) on one of your RAW files does your entered data appear?

Are you perhaps setting PM to embed IPTC data into your RAW files?  For best results with Adobe products, use XMP sidecar files with your RAW files.  If you want to post a screenshot of your IPTC/XMP settings so I can see them, I'll tell you the changes you need to make.  Use the 'Attachments and other options...' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,
