Using PZm5 in Win7-64 bit

Is the a work around to the 28 character file name limit when burning a CD?

Is it the same for a DVD?

Mick,

It is our understanding that the file name limit is 31 characters (including extension) and that it applies to both CDs and DVDs.  This isn't due to a limit of Photo Mechanic but a limitation of the disc burning SDK that we've licensed.

That something I would certainly like to see changed, assuming it is an SDK issue, not an OS issue. It is a pain needing to rename carefully named files just to burn them to disk.

I could always use explorer to copy burn a disk, but it is so much faster to select the images in a folder in PM.

Hi Mick,

Here are the limits for burning CDs and DVDs with Photo Mechanic 5. Windows 7-64 :  Filenames can be up to 64 characters long. The disk label limit is only 16 characters. Longer disk labels will lockup a DVD burn session. CDs burned with longer labels won't have any file extensions.    Photo Mechanic 5 for Macs can burn disks with 31 character labels and 124 character filenames.
