Won't load my high res tiffs
« on: August 30, 2012, 11:01:12 AM »
Since switching to V 5, when I drag a folder of tifs produced my phaseone back (output via photoshop) the contact sheet window which opens up will not load the images... some thumbnails show up, some show up then blink on and off, others don't load.

mac os 10.6.8      macpro tower     12GB ram

what's going on?

What is your Photo Mechanic Memory Cache size?  More isn't always better.

Thank you, Kirk.

The memory had been at 64MB, I switched it to 720. Performance is enhanced somewhat -- less  of the "blinking" images syndrome -- but scrolling up and down causes images to disappear then reload.

Images are approx 125MB per file.  Loading the raw files from the PhaseOne, which are 40MB tifs, works flawlessly.

Well, NOT flawlessly for raw out-of-camera tiffs. They only show up in thumbnail mode. Double clicking for a preview does nothing.

Increasing Cache Memory to Max does help even more.

So maybe more IS better in this case?
