Graphics processor on MacBook Pro
« on: October 07, 2012, 08:09:55 PM »
Using PM5 (5.0, build 13217 (68ec133)) on a 2010 MacBook Pro with Mtn Lion (10.8.2).

It seems like the Preview build time is now much slower than in PM4.  This could be because my settings were all reset (system had to be rebuilt from scratch), though I believe I the setting was always to create preview from RAW.  I've noticed that the graphics processor (monitored with gfxCardStatus 2.3) never switches ON and my recall is that PM4 did trigger the use of the graphics processor, which presumably which speed the creation of the Preview.

Is this all my imagination, or is PM5 slower and/or not using the graphics processor as was the case in PM4?  Or is the problem all in Apple's ImageIO?

Thanks,

Russ

The next build of PM 5 will have speed improvements for MacBookPro laptops running Mac OS X 10.8.x.
