How to you make the name of the file appear on the screen during a slide show.

into the text field.

I'm sorry, could you explain where that text field is.  When I select the files and then go to slideshow, there nothing there that would indicate a text file.  Must be missing something.

Text field, not text file.  See the image below where I have entered {filename}:
