Populating An Information Field
« on: August 09, 2013, 01:41:37 PM »
My assistant forwarded me Canon CR2 image files with the frame number stripped from that field inside the file (for JPEG files it's called EXIF data, for RAW files I don't know what this information is called). Well, I use that 4 digit frame number for various things. So, can I repopulate that field for an automatically incremented sequence of numbers? If so, how?

You mean you want Photo Mechanic to reinsert some EXIF tag that was stripped out?  Photo Mechanic does not, in general, edit EXIF tags.  Some tags like capture time/date can be modified with various tools in Photo Mechanic however.

I'd suggest using ExifTool for this purpose.

Yep, that's exactly what I want to do.
