Make sure you're running the very latest version of Photo Mechanic.  What version and build number of Photo Mechanic are you running?

What specific functions are not working properly and under what circumstances?  Without more details, I cannot provide solutions or advice.

Can you be a bit more specific in the steps you are following to reproduce the problem, and what exactly happens. I'm running Mavericks too and have had no problems whatsoever.

Perhaps post a screenshot as well (click the attachments and other options button below the text box when you enter your answer)

Just a hunch at this point, but try turning off "Run Navigation Services dialogs in a separate process" in the Accessibility section of the Preferences dialog and see if that makes any difference.
