Update single field on multiple images

This may be obvious solution but it's evading me.

How can I set/update a single field on multiple images based on a PM variable? Specifically I want to set the IPTC Status>Special Instructions field of all images in a contact sheet (or maybe a subset) to the images {filenamebase:-4} value.

The IPTC Stationery Pad is the tool for this.  Uncheck all other fields that you don't want to apply.  Then put {filenamebase:-4} into the Special Instructions field and apply the pad to your selected images.
