Renaming refresh contact sheet

Hello,

I have a list of images, for example: ABC111, ABC112, ABC113 ... 999
This images must be renamed adding a number as prefix, like 11ABC111, 33ABC112, 53ABC245 and so on.
The prefix numbers comes from the vehicle's number in the image. The list contains around 100 different vehicles, not ordered, so I have to rename individually.
Can't select consecutive images and add renaming using the dialog.
What I do is press ENTER and do the rename. What I expected was to remain in the same image (now renamed) and move to the next, and continue.
The contact sheet is refreshing everytime I rename.
Is it possible or are there an option to keep the list not refreshing so I can move to the next file, rename 23ABC325; 44ABC326; 55ABC327 and not ordering again?

Change your Sort to Capture Time.  Then double-click on the file name of the thumbnail and it should let you rename it as you see fit.  Press the Tab key to move on to the next image and adjust its name.  Keep pressing Tab to move to the next image.  Shift-Tab will go to the previous image.  On the last image you can rename it and press enter to finish your renaming.

The Rename dialog is for renaming images in bulk, where each name is similar or is derived from metadata.
