today I did my first "speed select" using PM. I began tagging while the importing from memory card was still in progress. Target was the internal SSD of a (not too powerful) laptop.
Each time I pressed "t" to tag an image, PM froze for a little while. The delay was small (much less then a second), but noticable and irritating. It did occur probably at the moment PM was writing the "tagged status" into the XMP.
Can't this write be deferred to another thread or something so it doesn't bog down the whole program any more? When I press "t", it is exactly the time I don't need any delay because I'm moving to the next image. When the next image is displayed, I need a moment to judge it anyway, and this would be the perfect time to "catch up" on disk writes.
