I have PhotoMechanic 4.6 and 5 on my C drive, a 64GB ssd with 600MB unused, I know, too full.
On that same drive is PhotoShop CS and LightRoom.
Scratch disc for PS is my second internal drive (E) with 300GB of 1.8TB unused.
Disc cache for PhotoMechanic on the E drive.
Win7Pro, i7, 12GB RAM PC.
Last night I started to edit files, one at a time, from a Nikon D810 for the first time. The 16 bit tiffs are 206 MB.
With LR and PS open, PhotoMechanic became either very slow or not responding if I needed to open a second contact sheet.
This morning, with PS and LR closed, PM is again not responding, at least for the couple of minutes before I close it.
I have emptied the disc and sort caches to no avail.
I am not trying to open a contact sheet from folders that contain any large tiffs, only the same folders that two days ago were opening before I could blink!
Just tried again, three minutes to open a contact sheet of half a dozen small jpgs, and Not Responding if I try to select anything.
My images are on a 2TB USB3 external hard drive, with 650GB unused.
If the ssd is clogged, would it help to move PM to my E drive?
Can I simply download a copy to my E drive or do I need to delete the current copies on the C drive (ssd), first?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Paul
