I have several .mov files from a Canon Rebel Ti1 camera that I would like to store metadata on and then use that metadata in a Search query.  Is this possible? I am using a Mac OSX Version 10.7.5

The short answer is no.

Photo Mechanic stores its metadata for movies in XMP sidecar files.  Spotlight (the technology that PM uses for search) does not associate (or even index properly) XMP files with movies or even RAW files for that matter.
