Tagging Raw and Jpg at the same time
« on: February 10, 2015, 12:34:00 PM »
Hy,

is it possible to tag a Raw and the related Jpg at the same time?
Greetings from Germany,
Robert

Hope is not the conviction that something wil turn out well,
but the cercainty, that someting makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.

Robert,

If the two images have the same base name and are in the same folder (or are in different folders but both folders are opened in the same Contact Sheet tab) then yes, both can be tagged (or untagged) at the same time.  By default, Photo Mechanic will join the two image formats and show them combined into a single item in the Contact Sheet.  The ability to join them is controlled in the View menu.

In order for changes to be applied to both the RAW and the JPEG the two images must be joined (stacked) together.  If they are separate then a change to one will not affect the other.

HTH,

-Kirk

Kirk,

I am beginning to work with RAW and jpegs in an effort to speed things up. I have just tried adding captions into stacked RAW and JPEG and that does work very well.

However, when they are in the same folder but unstacked adding a caption to only one of the pair of images does not get added to the second image as your reply above indicates.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, David
It only works for both files when they are grouped/viewed together.

Thanks Luizi.

I think I misunderstood Kirk's post and thought they would automatically update when separate in the same folder, but not the case.

Yes they have to be stacked together for both to be captioned at the same time.

I updated my post to make things more clear.
