Write IPTC Data directly to RAW (NEF)

How do I get Photo Mechanic to write IPTC data directly to the RAW files during ingest?  The Preferences WIKI indicates that there should be a button under the "Files" tab in Preferences that allows that, but I don't see it.  Did that button get moved or eliminated?

Hi there mSummers,

I believe what you are looking for now is in the IPTC/XMP tab in Preferences.

First:
Under "When Writing IPTC/XMP"
For TIFF-based RAW photos, check "Allow RAW files to be modified"  and then "Add embedded metadata"

Then, in order to apply metadata during Ingest, you would check "Apply IPTC Stationery Pad to Photos" and make sure you have a Stationery Pad with data to apply.

Mick,  thanks for the response. Does "TIFF-based RAW" mean TIFFs only, or does it include the Nikon NEF raw files? The ability to write the data directly to the NEF files is what I'm looking for.

Nef files are tiff based Raws So yes, PM writes directly those those.

Thanks for the clarification, Hayo. I thought I had that box checked, but it's possible that I didn't. I'll try again this evening.

It turns out that I had the "allow RAW files to be modified" box checked, but didn't have the "add embedded metadata" box checked.  With both checked it working perfectly.
