Export Snapshots?
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:10:50 PM »
I have upgraded to Yosemite on an SSD in the same Machine that I was using previously.  As I did a clean install, I have had to add all my programs back in.

This means that non of my snapshots from Photomechanic on the other drive in my machine are there.

Can I export them from the other instance of PM and import them into the new version?

Craig

You can get all of your settings back by simply copying the com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic folder from your other drive to your new one.  The folder is in the following location:

/Users/<your user name>/Library/Preferences

Apple has hidden your Library folder.  Apple did this a few OS revisions ago.  Do the following:

In the Finder, choose "Go to Folder..." from the "Go" menu.
Enter: ~/Library/Preferences
Scroll down until you find the com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic folder.

Or you can simply use the Export/Import feature in Photo Mechanic's Preferences dialog to export and import only the specific settings and snapshots that you want.

With Capitan 10.11.3, no folder in preferences, only :

com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.LSSharedFileList
com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic
com.camerabits.PMNavigationAgent

Nothing in Application support

PM would not be able to operate without losing all of your preferences if the com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic folder and the files contained therein were not available.

I'd like to see a screenshot of the Finder window displaying the com.camerabits section of your home folder's Library/Preferences folder.  Or if you feel comfortable using the Terminal, enter:

ls ~/Library/Preferences/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic

Then copy and paste the results in your reply to this message.
