filter and lens hood
« on: November 13, 2016, 05:29:47 AM »
Hello! I am using Canon eos 100d/ rebel sl1 18-55 and i need help. What is the difference betwen UV / CPL / ND filters and do i need that for such a cheap lens ? Will it degrades the quality of picture or it is useful at least like protect for lens?
And the second is about lens hood? Posotive and negative sides and for 18-55 which should i buy?

(Note: This forum isn't really for questions like this)

You don't need a filter, but you may to use it for protection (personally I don't), as all sensors already filter out UV, a UV filter is quite useless, get a clear filter instead. A CPL and an ND are very different things and do have their uses.

For me, personally, no, they are not worth it. And as I said if you really must get a filter (for "protection"), get a good quality clear filter instead.
