Can't delete images

I'm using a macbook pro, Yosemite version 10.10.5. I am using Photo Mechanic version 5.0, and I have raw photos on an external HD. When looking at them, I can't delete them. I hit delete and it says "do you want to delete" but then doesn't actually delete the photo. I can manually delete the photos, and working with photos saved on my computer hard drive I can delete them. I have checked the permissions for the HD and I can read and write. Any advice? I don't have enough space on my computer to work with the files and then send them over to the external HD. Normally I do it all on the external HD.

I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.
