Fuji GFX 50S files

I have the Fuji camera; also a Sony A7R. When I add metadata/GPS data to the files, PM will write to the original Sony file but will only write XMP files for the Fuji files. Is there some reason why PM will not modify the Fuji files? I would like to eliminate the XMP files if at all possible.

Attached are my preferences for writing IPTC/XMP files.

Yes, we don't write to Fuji RAW files because some applications couldn't read/render the files once modified.  Photoshop/ACR was one that I recall.
