The ability to show PDFs and to link the PDF to a program

I'm a specialist judo photographer and I include all the paperwork for each competition including results and articles about the event in the competition's folder.  The competitions I have photographed go back as far as 1972 and I often use the paperwork to write articles. Currently, PDFs in PM cannot be linked to a program to open them. Is there a possibility of including that function in a future update along with the ability to see the page in the contact sheet?

Attached is a clip of Xnview that is a free picture and contact sheet viewer and, as you can see, it shows PDFs page by page which is very good for quickly looking for results or reports.

Is it possible to include the feature in a future release and the database when it comes along?

I would also find it very useful for the contact sheet to render PDFs.  As I recall, this was requested a long time ago, and maybe the answer was something like... 'it's easy to do for Mac customers, but impossible for Windows customers' or perhaps the other way around.
