Getting the wheel

In the last few months, every time I go to Photomechanic once I have opened it, I get the Apple Wheel of Waiting for about 1 minute. If I change windows and return to the application, the wheel starts again. So I have to just sit there waiting for it to finish. If I close the app and re-open (clearing the cache) it seems to prevent it happening for a while, but soon after it starts happening again. What is the issue here and how can I fix it?
