PM6 "Quality" option in Preview window on Mac - Not working
« on: April 07, 2019, 01:12:10 PM »
Used to be able to use Apple's built in RAW support for previewing focus, shadow detail, noise etc - now the pref's > Render Cache window seems to want to force me to use "Adobe DNG Converter" in order to reclaim this valuable functionality.

Have I missed something ? What's the deal here ? I specifically do not want to install/maintain Adobe ACR or any sub variant to rely on for critical colour viewing, pm fact I've gone to great pains to eliminate Adobe's sub optimal colour interpretation from my workflow ! Apple's RAW support at least is built in and fine for the purposes I used it for.

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

Thx

RAW rendering via Apple's ImageIO has been removed in PM6.  It may make a return but for now it is removed.

For me, the fastest workaround for this on macOS has been to add macOS'  'Preview' as an external editor.

Then I went into macOS Preferences and created an app-specific keyboard shortcut for it.  So now when I have an image in my Photo Mechanic Preview window, hitting cmd-shift-e opens the image in macOS Preview

I hope it helps
