Pair RAW+jpg (and other sidecar files too)
« on: May 26, 2019, 06:52:44 AM »
Hopefully this is coming, but it'd be great if RAW+jpg pairs showed up as just one entry in the browser just like they do in normal PM.  Grouping other sidecar files together as well would be ideal.

I think i saw it mentioned elsewhere that this is currently still being worked on, but would totally agree that we need this just as it is/was in PM4/5 etc... (it was in fact the reason I switched to PM in the first place!

Yes, we understand that it is an important feature and are contemplating ways to make it happen.

Just curious, in the PM universe, does the concept of "RAW+JPEG pair" refer to only a pair created by shooting in RAW+JPEG mode? Or does it also refer to a RAW and a derivative JPEG created later with the same base file name?

Hi,
It also refers to a raw and a derivative JPEG created later with the same base file name.

Awesome!  I shoot RAW+jpg as I like the quick full size previews in PM.  I also use this feature when I export my edited photos to 'update' the full size preview.

B14 should fix this problem.

Please try it and let me know if the problem persists.

Yes, this works and you now pair e.g. a tiff file as well. Awesome, something I wanted for a very very long time now! 8) 8) 8)

A little confusing, however is that the filename is changed into “xxxx.yyy+jpg" event though the paired file is a tif, not a jpg. Either change this to show the actual paired file extension (which can be multiple), or simply leave it off and include only a marker to indicate file pairing (e.g. just a + sign). Also the menu entry should not read just “Combined RAW+JPG”, but something that illustrates better that it is combining all matching files. But, the feature is really much appreciated!
