Geotagging Videos

Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 3558 (afa5073)
MacOS 10.14.4 (18E226) on Intel Core i7 Mac

Good morning,

First, I do realize that PhotoMechanic is not called VideoMechanic for a reason ;). That said...

I have videos (.mov or .mp4, sometimes .mts) that have an XMP sidecar file with GPS information. I can read the information with EXIFTool viewers, for example, or with ON1 Photo Raw 2019, so the information is there.

After I ingest them into PM6, the information seems to disappear. I can add other IPTC information, which gets saved, but the geotagging is missing. With other photo files, the same workflow works just fine.

Looking at PM6, I suspect that the GPS info is not loaded in the first place, as the Set GPS coordinates box is blank for those video files.

Am I missing a setting or is PM6 simply not meant for video at all.

Thanks,

Paul

At the moment, PM is indeed not able to extract all metadata from video files (this will hopefully change soon). But they should be able to read it from the sidecar file. As far as I know this should just work.
Can you post (a link to) a small video file and its xmp file so I can have a look?
