PhotoMechanic 6.0 7269 Renaming not working properly
« on: March 24, 2025, 11:21:44 AM »
{frame4} variable would normally use the frame number but now it just returns 0000 and says when renaming a batch that it cannot rename as all the files will have the same number.

I hope that can be fixed or maybe I can go back tro the previous version.

Hello David,

I have just tested this for myself and cannot confirm the problem. Could it be that this field is empty in your EXIF data? Which camera are you using?

Hi David,

Can you post a sample file that returns 0000 for the frame 4 variable, {frame4}?   Photo Mechanic will use the last 4 characters of the filename for the frame 4 variable, if the image file has the original name format.  If the file has been renamed, then Photo Mechanic will look for the PM preference string in either the XMP or IPTC metadata sections. If the PM preference string is not present, then the frame 4 variable will return 0000.

Best regards,
