Favorites sort order
« on: October 02, 2019, 04:52:01 AM »
After the last update, when opening PM6 or PM6 Plus, the sort order of Favorites folders are correct, but the sub-folders have a random sort order. Clicking “name” make the sort order correct also for the sub-folders. In Finder sort order are always correct.

I believe there is a post on this topic, but I can’t find it.

What is the sort popup menu set to when you first use PM6?  Please post a screenshot of the main window if you're not sure.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

Sounds like a bug to me.

Thanks for reporting the problem, Lars.

Lars,

I have looked into the problem (I created a set of folders like yours) and I'm unable to reproduce the problem.  The folders sort the same in PM as they do in the Finder for me.  I did not have to change the sort order popup to fix anything, it just works the first time straight away.

See the attached image.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Kirk,

Sorry I have missed your last reply. Looking further I found the following:

The sort pop up menu when I first use PM6 will show and check mark the choice I have selected when I last used it. However the actual sort order when I first use PM6 is always the last available choice, “Date down”, and not the one check marked.

If I make change to one folder, that folder will be the first one in “Date Down”. My guess is that when you created my folders and than copied them to Favorites, as they are created at the same time, have the same sort order for “Name” and “Date”

Lars,

To test your theory, I just updated the modification time of the last folder in the list (1958 Mina kameror) to "now" and then ran PM6 again.  Same sort order as the Finder.

Later, I updated "1921 Blandat" to "now" and tried again.  Same correct sort order as the Finder.

I'm unable to reproduce your problem.

Thank you Kirk

I found the problem by right clicking the Favorites list. In Preferences "Default Favorites sort" was set to "Date"! Most likely set by me when I explored the PM6+, not realizing it would also effect PM6. Changing to "Name" solved my problem.

Sorry for the trouble I caused you.

I'm glad you figured it out, because I couldn't reproduce the problem on my end and it's hard to fix problems that can't be reproduced.
