Is there a bug in the "Rename Files" with sequence?
« on: March 04, 2021, 02:39:34 PM »
When I have used the "Renamne Files" - feature and resets the sequence counter to "001" and rename a number of files I don´t get "Filename_001.ARW, Filename_002, Filename_003" and so on. Instead I get "Filename_011.ARW, Filename_021, Filename_031", so the pattern is an extra "1" at the end of the sequence number.

Since I´m using the pretty new Build 5560 and am pretty sure it was like this even in the first build of PM Plus I wonder if not anyone else has seen the same?

I hoped it would be fixed i 5560 but apparently it isn´t.

Check your "Renaming method" in the Files page of the Preferences dialog.  I think you must have it set to "Always append a digit (1, 2, 3)" and not one of the options that only appends a digit (or letter) when needed.

Also, are you sure your sequence is 001 and not 01?  Based on your examples I would have expected them to be Filename_0011.ARW, Filename_0021.ARW, etc.

Nothing has changed in the renaming system recently.

I have tried several startnumbers even 0 and 1. From what I have seen I always get on extra "1" added.

I have also tried via the "SET-meny" and I don´t really understand why we can set sequence rules on three different places.
That is a little confusing I think.

I have tested some more now and it was the "Preferenses"- "File" that was wrong.
It read something like "Always add a digit (1, 2 ,3)
The problem is that the effect of choise was not reflected in the "File" - "Rename photos"-dialog you can see below.

It works when I changed the renamming method to "Append digits when needed..." instead

As you can see in the dialog it says 1 and 2 and not 11 and 21 as I got before the change.
So that info doesn´t reflect the method you have choosen.
Still we have three different places that might affect the result and just the main remaining would do it for me.
I think it might be flexible for some, but for me it was pretty confusing.
It won´t be a further problem now!

Thanks for your quick help Kirk.
I´m impressed by your service level, as always :-)

I'm glad you got it working.  I will file a bug on the rename examples not reflecting the "Renaming method" chosen.

I don't understand what a "SET-meny" is though.

Sorry, I ment "Settings - Set Sequence Variable".

All the submenus begins with "Set" and that´s why I used "Set Menu" which i misspelled "Set Meny" (the last is just swedish for menu - my bad).
