PM running slow when fullscreen on new iMac.
« on: June 02, 2021, 02:14:43 PM »
Hey Team,

Sorry if this is a super common question but none of the advice I have seen given has worked for me.

I have a new iMac, 3.3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5 24 GB ram (don't know if this is helpful) and culling photos is a bit laggy at full screen. It does get better when I use a smaller window but that defeats the purpose of having a big screen.

What can I try that would be optimal for my machine?

Cheers.

What version and build of Photo Mechanic are you running?  What kind of images are you working with?  What is the resolution of the images (width and height)?

Are you rendering the RAW files via the Adobe DNG Converter?  That will be glacially slow.

I expect that you're not doing that.  Where are the files stored?  Internal SSD?  External drive?  Network storage?

What color profile do you have assigned to your monitor?

Correct, RAW rending is not enabled.

Files are stored on my internal SSD which is only 25% full.

Colour profile is just the default so just says 'iMac'.

Thanks.
