Thumbnails "jump" unexpectedly

If I have a contact sheet open, then go to another open application, so that the PM+ window is not active, then I return to PM+ - the thumbnails will jump unexpectedly. That's the best way I know how to describe it. Mostly it's just a minor annoyance, but at times it does cause me to lose my place.

Am I doing something "wrong" or is this just normal behavior?

One of the things that Photo Mechanic 6/Photo Mechanic Plus does on resume is rescan folders/reissues searches.  You can turn this off, however, by going into the Contact Sheet page of the Preferences dialog and uncheck the "Rescan on resume" checkbox.
