Is there somewhere to find the syntax for custom fields? I saw the search examples, but I can't get aperture to work.

What custom fields are you referring to?

If you're just wanting to search the existing (not custom) Aperture value, you can enter things like:

aperture < 4.0
aperture = 3.5
aperture >= 3.5

In Filters you can add a "Custom Search" filter and do the same kind of queries above.

Thank you, that works, but is there a more comprehensive list of examples? I was trying to filter on focal length and got not results with, for example, focallength=35. Also, the description of focallength is the same as that for lens. I'm wanting to find the focal length at which the shot was taken.

Thanks again.

Some more documentation is here:
https://docs.camerabits.com/support/solutions/articles/48001077445-photo-mechanic-plus-search

And the full list of Searchable fields is here:
https://docs.camerabits.com/support/solutions/articles/48001160827

(You can also see this in Photo Mechanic Plus by going to the menu Catalog > Searchable fields... )

Note: focallength is currently not listed as a searchable field

Focal length is not a searchable field at this time.

The Searchable Fields window lists the set of fields that are supported.

As a helpful workaround, I was going to put the focal length on the contact sheet using this: {aperture}-{shutter}-{iso}-{focallength}-{folder}
But for every image shot with my 10-24mm lens, it has 36 in the focallength field.

We are currently looking into that issue with the {focallength} variable. Did you mean a Fuji 10-24?  And if so, the old or new version?

Edited to add: If you can provide a sample file from the camera/lens that may be helpful (Zipped up would be best). If it's too large to post here, contact me personally for FTP server info by clicking on my name and the "Send PM."
