Tiff and xmp
« on: February 08, 2023, 12:52:39 AM »
Hi:

Why PM+ can't read xmp keywords? I'm puzzled because in some tiffs it reads the keywords perfectly and in others it doesn't. I have read the xmp and there are the keywords.

Thank's

Please post one of your images that PM Plus isn't recognizing keywords and we'll investigate.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your sample file.

Thanks,

-Kirk

the tiff is too big, I don't want to modify it because it can read the keywords, in fact if I export a new tiff from capture one, and then refresh the PM+ catalog it does read them

Please try sharing your TIFF file again.  But before you do, does this TIFF file have an accompanying XMP sidecar file?  If that's the case, PM doesn't associate XMP sidecar files with TIFF files because the TIFF file format is fully capable of containing the XMP and that's where it should always be.  If that's the case, no need to share a sample file.

Yes, it has an associated xmp, so how can I do it? Capture One creates the xmp. The solution is to export to create a new tiff file?.

This is the correct option to reveal in capture one?

One question, why sometimes it reads the xmp and other times not? Tiff created in the same way as the one that does not read

Thank you very much Kirk and sorry for the insistence, it is a question that I have from the beginning of using the PM+

Is there a setting that will cause Capture One to update the existing TIFF file with the XMP metadata inside it?  If so, set Capture One to do so.  Otherwise, yes, you'll have to have Capture One create a new TIFF file since it may be that they won't modify an existing TIFF file.

I suspect that the TIFF files that PM does recognize the metadata actually have metadata inside them (as it should be) and the ones that are not recognized do not have embedded metadata and instead have XMP sidecar files.  PM only recognizes XMP sidecar files for RAW (except DNG) files and video files.
